Make Your Sound šŸ””

Life will be boring if everyone sounds the same!

Music, perhaps the most potent form of auditory art, has the ability to evoke a wide range of emotions and convey thoughts, feelings, and experiences, making a sound that is truly oneā€™s own.

However, this post isnā€™t about music or sound. But I will make references to the process of creating music in explaining my thoughts on this subject.

Itā€™s about living. Finding your spark and making an impact here on earth before we transcend to the afterlife (I apologize if you donā€™t believe in the afterlife, but why donā€™t you?).

What do you want to be when you grow up? Asking this ā€œconversation starterā€ question by an adult is a common occurrence for almost all children worldwide.

I bet you too can remember that moment when you happily embraced your favorite uncle or aunt, and they posed the same question to you.

Passed on from generation to generation, like the ā€œhow to be a friendly adult to childrenā€ handbook sort of thingā€”as an uncle to my sisterā€™s beautiful kids, I find myself curiously asking them the same thing toošŸ˜.

The question is: Do we live just to become a ā€œjobā€?

Scrolling through my timeline a while ago, I stumbled on a TikTok post that tasked my brain with thinking pretty hard about myself. The post had this question: ā€œCan you introduce yourself without saying your name, your age, what you do for a living, and where you come from?ā€

Iā€™d pause and let you try that for a minute.šŸ˜Š

How did it go? Let me know in the comments. Were you able to form an introduction to yourself that you liked? I couldnā€™t form an introduction for that very minute. So I asked myself, Who am I? Who are you?

Beyond school, jobs, sleeping and waking up, lovely partners, to-do lists, bills, chores, etc., thereā€™s got to be something worth living for here on earth. The point about this statement is that every single one of us has something to live forā€”your unique sound.

What could it be?

Find Your Sound

You may substitute the word sound here with spark, passion, purpose, drive, inner fire, or any other buzz word that getā€™s you kicking.

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, itā€™s easy to get lost in the routine and forget about what truly ignites our inner fire. However, the pursuit of passion and purpose is a journey that can lead to a more fulfilling and meaningful life. Thatā€™s when you start living.

How do you start?

It doesn't have to be as dramatic as God appearing to you, like he did to Saul on his way to Damascus, lol. Bible reference.

You donā€™t have to fast, consult a seer, or do some magnificent thing before you find your purpose or passion. He already put it in there.

Letā€™s take a look at how this can work:

  1. Reflect on your interests: Start by reflecting on activities that bring you joy and fulfillment. Your passion often hides within these genuine moments of enjoyment.
  2. Connect with your values: Consider what truly matters to you or what you hold dear. Whether itā€™s creativity, justice, community, or knowledge, connecting with your values provides a compass for your journey, ensuring your pursuits are authentic and resonate with your inner self.
  3. Explore new opportunities: Donā€™t be afraid to step out of the known and into the unknown. Sometimes, your passion and purpose reveal themselves in unexpected places. Embrace the opportunity for growth and discovery that comes with stepping into the unknown.
  4. Trust yourself: Pay attention to your instincts and intuition. Your inner voice often provides valuable insights into what truly matters to you. Trusting yourself and listening to your gut feelings can guide you towards activities and pursuits that align with your passion and purpose.

Some of us grew up to follow a different path from the career we once aspired to as children, trusting our guts to follow a passion we believed in.

Make Your Sound

Consider this the most important part of this article. Passion without action is like a song unsung.

The title for this blog post could have been ā€œself-discoveryā€ or ā€œfinding your passionā€, but this is not about any of these titles either.

Itā€™s about living a life without regrets. Apply every talent or gift you have with meaning and purpose, impacting the lives of others positively.

The process of creating music allows for a unique form of personal expression. It opens up a world of possibilities for an individual to convey messages and create powerful connections.

From the soothing melodies of a classical symphony to the energetic beats of a rock concert, every sound has the potential to communicate with and resonate with an audience.

You may think there are a million people doing the same thing in your area of passion; what difference would yours make anyway?

Lean on your values or personality and find your uniqueness in them. Make your unique sound in your passion.

Do you find passion in art? Thereā€™s never been an artist like you. How about writing? Youā€™ve got to be kidding me; there are a lot of writers in the world. There may be a million authors in the world, but no one weaves words like you would.

ā€œThe sky is too big for two birds to clashā€ might sound cliche, but it is true. You have your own unique sound, and there are people who will resonate with your sound.

Embrace adaptability. Life is dynamic, and so are your passions and purposes. Embrace change, and be open to adapting your goals and pursuits as you grow and evolve. This flexibility ensures that your actions remain aligned with your authentic self throughout the various stages of your life.

Embrace setbacks as learning opportunities, and let them fuel your determination to move forward. Every action, no matter how small, brings you closer to making your sound.

Persistence is key!

Donā€™t deny your audience the pleasure of hearing your sound! So set goals, be in the moment, find your passion, and make your own unique sound! You will have a reason to wake up every morning and feel fulfilled.

Conclusion

Iā€™ve met really intelligent people who have so much to share about their passion. I have also seen how consistent six-month action can make a big difference in someoneā€™s life.

Finding your passion and purpose is a journey of self-discovery and growth. It involves reflection, exploration, and taking intentional action.

By aligning your actions with what truly matters to you, you not only enhance your own life but also contribute positively to the world around you. So, take that first step, make your sound, let the world hear you, embrace the journey, and let your passion guide you to a purposeful and fulfilling life.

Happy living! šŸŽ‰
